August
THEY are Africa launched a campaign to help our little friend Samson who was severely poorly with a bad ear infection. He needed £800 to go to hospital and get the medicines and surgery required to make him better. We were over whelmed by the support and managed to smash the target and raised £925 within ONE WEEK.

September
Samson and his guardian Gerald, who is also his teacher, set off for the hospital in Nairobi (4 hours from Nakuru where they live) to visit the county health director. They were told that for a clear observation from the doctor Samson’s ear needed to be dried up from the puss and infection. They were given medicine and directions to apply and to come back in 4 weeks.

October
Samson and Gerald once again set off for the long journey to Nairobi hoping that Samson’s ear had cleared so the doctor could take a proper look. Thankfully it had and on inspection Samson was given medicine and antibiotics to help with the infection. It was thought that an operation was still needed but as a last resort. The doctor hoped that the medicine would work and little Samson wouldn’t need operating on.

November
4 weeks after their last visit, they set off again to see the specialist who commented that there had been good progress made in recovery. However, it wasn’t clear enough to see if they would need to operate. Another round of medicine was administered.
December
Samson will be going back to the hospital in the new year for the final results to see whether he will need an operation or not. He is starting to feel much better and slowly get back to his smiley, cheeky self.
Thank you SO much to everyone who has donated! It is clear to see the impact you have all made in making our little friend better.
So far, the consultations, medication, travel and specialist nutrition for Samson has cost £325. The remaining money will be used should Samson need the operation – hopefully he won’t! If not the extra £600 will go to funding him through his education which will cover a minimum of FIVE YEARS tuition.
Another BIG thank you from THEY are Africa. But an even bigger thank you to everyone from our little friend Samson! 😊
